MEET ALEX

Alex, 12, is our youngest participant in the "Greater Than" Youth Development Program (music track). He has attended many of our block parties and started showing up every day asking to be a part of the music program in the studio. This program has been a 'teen program' and was not registering students his age. He kept approaching our staff, and after much persistence, he was able to start with the teens in the music studio. He has been enthusiastic, mature and incredibly responsive to the lessons and the projects. He has even asked to attend other programs off site and has mentors who now help him with transportation. Alex says many of his peers stay inside all the time, alone and depressed and should attend “Greater Than" instead.
